This web portal aims basically at providing information about the services rendered by the Honorary Consulate. As an official representative of Nepal in New Zealand, the Consulate of Nepal is here to provide varied services to Nepalese regarding their stay in New Zealand and provide visa services to foreign nationals to travel to Nepal. Our office also seeks to collate information about Nepal and the bilateral relations between Nepal and New Zealand, primarily in trade, tourism, and investments.
The relationship between New Zealand and Nepal is cordial. A key event connecting our two countries was the ascent of Mt. Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary (New Zealand) and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa (Nepal) in May 1953. Nepal and New Zealand established their diplomatic relationship in May 1961. The government of New Zealand is helping the government of Nepal in various sectors via the New Zealand Aid Programs.
Mr. Atma Ram Khanal, the present Honorary Consulate of Nepal in New Zealand, was appointed by the Government of Nepal on 23 December 2020.
